Rad Reading February- Gym Candy

This month I continued reading the book Gym Candy by Carl Deuker I am now almost half way finished and I will tell you what has happened so far. The plot of the story is about a kid who is now 16 who is a running back in high school and is fighting for his spot on the varsity team there is a running back named Drager that is the starting running back for the team both of the running backs get into a talking argument and something very bad happens. I am really liking this book because there is always action and entertainment going on. Mick is my favorite character because even though he is pretty sure he’s not going to play because he was a freshman we would not play but he kept on striving hard and it payed off because he was the special teams captain. My favorite quote from this book is “ I ended up practicing every single day, just like my dad wanted, but I wasn’t doing it because I thought I had a chance to start, I was because I didn’t know how else to play.” This quote shows his great mentality and no matter what he is willing to always keep playing.

Living on my Abandoned Tropical Island

This is my abandoned tropical island. Let me explained how I got here I was driving my boat around and went to explore this tropical island. So when I got =on the island there was people there they all ran on to the boat threw me off and took my boat and left. So that explains how I got here. My daily routine is to wake up in the morning and the first thing I do is relax to the nice ocean sound. After that I am usually hungry so I go to the coconut tree use a big branch to knock some of them off. After I knock a few down I put a hole in the coconut and have some very fresh coconut water. I put a flag on the island using some wood and washed up cloth to symbolize that the island is know mine or is any boats drive by they can see the flag and maybe come help me. There is a lot of wild life on the island there is lots of spiders and all types of insects, one time I even saw a monkey! I am making a boat made of wood and it’s held together by clay so I can sail home. Finally I would get on to my boat and sail away.

If I was Invisible

If I was granted the wish to be invisible for 24 hours there is so many things I would do. The first thing I would do is go into as many designer clothes and shoes stores I could and take whatever I wanted. I would get my favorite shoes like Travis Scott Jordan’s, Punk, and Essential sweatshirts and shirts. I would get graphic t-shirts, jeans and pants. I would have the best outfits. Another thing I would do is if anyone I didn’t like or was being annoying I would hit or slap them because I am invisible. After I do that the next thing I would do is go to a bank and take all of the cash they have and tuck it in my pants so nobody could see it, with that cash I would go and buy a mansion in the hills. Finally the last thing I would do is go to a car dealership and take the car keys one. At a time and drives every car back to my house.

Rad reading – January

This month I read Gym Candy by: Carl Deuker. I didn’t get to finish this book but so far is a great book. So far in this book its about a kid who’s dad was in the NFL and got chosen but wasn’t anything special as he was in college. The main character Mick Johnson is in high school and was a very talented running back. But once he got to high school the competition for a spot was very tuff at first there was 4 players in his position better than him. After advice from his dad to keep picking of the worst ones and kept getting trying to play better than the person in front of him. After doing that 3 times he earned a second spot on varsity and then the starting running back tryed to tell him no freshman started but that maid him want the spot more. My favorite character was Mick because I relate to him because we both have fight to earn to get better and we both definitely want to be the best. My favorite quote from the book isAs game time neared, a sense of power filled me. It started in the back of my head and spread like a wildfire until I felt as if I was going to explode.” I really like the quote because there is great words and I can tell how he is feeling.

Surprise Gift

My friend Christian from Chicago. Me and Christian have known each other for many years and have such amazing memories even though he lives in Illinois and is two years older than I am we still always talk and play video games together. The reason I’m writing about him is because he is coming to visit me during the summer. Me and Christian have had some amazing memory’s together but I think my favorite one was when he surprised me for my birthday. It was august 11 and we were celebrating my birthday and I had no clue that he was going to surprise me so I walked downstairs where my family had told me to go. My eyes were closed and they told me that I could open my eyes, and there he was I was so happy to see him it was the best present ever. We went out to get food so we decided on getting donuts for the both of us. Later on we decided that we wanted to go to Knott’s berry farm which is an amusement park. We started to go on all the rides it was my 2nd time there and my friends 1st time most of the rides were a surprise to me and him. We started of with silver bullet which is a very fast and crazy ride. Next we decided to go on hang time which is a ride that goes up 90 degrees with a 95 degree drop. As we got on the ride we were definitely both a bit scared. We were in the front row, we started to go up and the tension was rising as we got to the drop we put are hands up and went down. It was so fun the speed the loops the drops it was all amazing. We went on all the rest of the rides and then went home. So in conclusion my favorite memory of me and Christian is him surprising me and going to Knotts berry farm. Next time we can maybe go to 6 flags.

Dumbledore Quote

“We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy”. This is a quote from Dumbledore and it means a lot to me because I have been through something like this before. I relate to this quote because in life I try to think of what is right to do versus what is the easy way out of something. For example if I’m playing soccer I know that no matter what I should be trying and playing as hard as possible in stead of taking the easy way out so that is one reason that I choose this quote. Another reason is that if my friend or any body needs help I try to help them instead of taking the easy way out by for instance ignoring the or not helping. So what I try to do is see what they need help with and try to provide that or something. An example is that me and my sister were getting food and there was a homeless man that’s needed food so me. And my sister got a meal for him. The easy way out would be to simply ignore him which wouldn’t be right. So for these reasons I always try to find and do the things that are right in life instead of taking the easy way out.

Rad reading December

Sunny by: Jason Reynolds

This month I read the book Sunny by Jason Reynolds I didn’t finish reading the book but here is the plot so far. It is about a girl who used to run track left the team but is kind of still part of it but there job is to sit up a discus for the team the coach teaches her how to spin and kind of like dance.

I liked the book because it was interesting to see what happened at the discus and once you read it you well see its very interesting.

My favorite character was coach because he has a very good personality and is very tuff.

My Hero

Somebody I look up to in my everyday life is Mohammed Salah. He is a professional soccer player for Liverpool and Egypt. The first reason I look up to Salah is because of his soccer skills he is a winger just like me and he is also left footed like me. Salah is most known because of his close control skillful dribbles. When I grow up I would like to be as good as him and have the ability to shoot and dribble like him. Another reason is where he is from. Mohammed is from Cairo, Egypt which is where my dad is from. Whenever he speaks from where he came from I can relate to it because my dad is from there and I have also been there many times. My third and final reason is his personality. Salah is a very passionate person, to soccer and his family. He always is during what’s best for his family he also has a wife and kids. There is a video of him surprising a blind Liverpool fan and I thought it was very nice of him. So Salah is my hero because of his soccer skills, where he comes from, and his personality

My word for the Year

This year I am going to focus on soccer, I am good at soccer but there is always room for improvement. The first reason that I choose the word soccer for is because I have made a goal for myself to get to an academy level team. For example there is teams like LA Galaxy, LAFC and Strikers Fc. All of the clubs I stated have MLS Next teams, Which is the top division from my age group to all the way up to the professional level. My second reason that I choose soccer is that I always want to be at training as much as possible. My clubs trainings are very intense and I feel that every training that I go to I get better as a player, and we get better as a team. My third and final reason is that I want to be better than a lot of player so that when I get older I can try email teams for trails and colleges as well. Me and my brother are both soccer player we train together, recover together, etc. we both want to go pro and we have seen that the Saudi Arabian soccer league is paying great money plus a car and home. We have looked into it to see if there was a possibility that he could maybe go play professionally while I play in an academy there. In conclusion I choose the word soccer because I want to get on an academy team, I want to be at every trining my team has, And finally I want to try to go professional with my brother.

Rebound by: Kwame Alexander

This month I read rebound by Kwame Alexander

I really liked this book because I really like basketball and I like the amount of detail in the book about basketball I like that they’re really serious about basketball and so is their cousin Roxie. So if you really like basketball this book is definitely for you I like how the book is old and it shows how basketball was back then. So that’s why I really like this book.

My favorite character in the story was Roxie because there very good and I like there nice personality.

My favorite quote from this book was “ who knows I can’t play basketball who knows I don’t like basketball (anymore) throws the ball to me. Oh I wish she hadn’t done that…” I like this quote because he was very not confident and eventually gets confidence back again.
